We teach Twitter and Facebook classes locally for small business owners, and one question that comes up in almost every class is, “Does my company really need to be on Twitter?” The concern is largely due to not having enough time to manage their Twitter presence, and the fear of it getting abandoned.
No matter if your brand is on Twitter or not, people will always talk about your business on Twitter, good or bad.
The worst part that could happen to you if you’re not on Twitter is getting fake parody accounts that users create for your business to poke fun at you, so the choice is yours, but we tend to think having a presence on Twitter, and doing at least a small amount of monitoring of your company is the way to go.
